In 2019, after selling our manufacturing company, we weren’t actively looking for a new venture—until friends of ours encouraged us to take a look at their river cabins. Their daughter played basketball with our youngest daughter, Hope, and they were convinced this would be a great next chapter for us.
So, on a freezing January night, we toured the cabins. Only one was heated—and it happened to be occupied by a squatter. The rest were closed for the winter. To say we weren’t impressed would be an understatement. And yet, somehow, we were convinced.
We officially purchased the cabins on Friday, March 13, 2020—just days before COVID changed the world. During that time, we poured countless hours, energy, and resources into improving the property, ultimately transforming it into a place we were proud to open year-round.
What followed surprised us most. Hosting families, meeting guests from all over the world, and watching people return year after year turned this business into something truly meaningful. That joy led us to add two more properties, and we continue to look for opportunities that allow us to share this special part of the world with others.
